ML & GenAI Team Lead (Sagacify)

Craftzing and Sagacify are looking for an ML & GenAI Team Lead who is equally at home in a pull request as in a people conversation. Someone who does not see leadership and technical depth as a trade-off, but as two things that make each other better.

In this role you help build and steer a team of ML and AI Engineers at Sagacify, part of Craftzing, while staying an active contributor on client projects that actually ship. You sit at the intersection of teams, offices and disciplines - reporting to the Head of ML at Sagacify and collaborating closely with the Craftzing delivery organisation. In practice, roughly 70% of your time goes to hands-on delivery and 30% to leading the team.

This is not a role where you hand the technical work off to your team. You stay in the code, you stay in the architecture — and you also grow the people around you.

What you'll do

Team leadership

  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of five ML and AI Engineers

  • Set and enforce quality standards, delivery frameworks and best practices

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation and knowledge sharing

  • Own key client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and long-term trust

AI Engineering

  • Architect end-to-end AI applications orchestrating LLMs, vector databases and APIs

  • Design and build autonomous agents and conversational systems

  • Engineer and optimise RAG pipelines connecting enterprise data to LLMs

  • Perform prompt and context engineering to improve output quality and reduce hallucinations

  • Evaluate system quality through generative AI metrics and production monitoring

  • Deploy and scale solutions with focus on latency, security and cost efficiency

MLOps

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for model deployment

  • Monitor production models across drift, quality metrics and operational costs

  • Ensure versioning, reproducibility and safe rollout of models and AI services

  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams for smooth delivery

What you'll work with

Core technologies

  • Python

  • OpenAI API, Hugging Face Transformers

  • LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse

  • FastAPI or Flask, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines

  • Cloud GPU

  • AWS (S3, SQS, IAM, RDS, etc.)

  • Cursor

Bonus points for experience with :

  • TypeScript

  • Azure

  • AI-native engineering workflows: hands-on experience using AI coding agents and AI-assisted development environments (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, Copilot, etc.), including context engineering, subagent orchestra…

You do not need to master every tool on this list. But you know the fundamentals cold, you pick things up fast, and you are honest about where your gaps are.

Who we're looking for

  • You have 5 to 9+ years of experience, including at least 2 to 3 years in a tech lead role in ML and AI projects

  • You have excellent communication skills and are comfortable presenting to C-level stakeholders and facilitating workshops

  • You have strong organisational skills and can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously

  • You know how to coach and grow talent while remaining individually impactful on delivery

  • You are curious and genuinely passionate about AI, with the ability to evaluate and adopt new tools quickly

  • You communicate fluently in Dutch and English; French is a strong plus
